Dear Team Kellie,
I know this is long overdue, but as I always say, better late than never! I want to use this opportunity to say Thanks to each and every one of you who has helped me get through the most difficult, life changing event of my life! Although there are so many days that I find myself struggling with this or that, or getting frustrated with things that are challenging for me to accomplish, I'm surrounded by the ongoing support of others who help me remember that every time something doesn't work for me, I'm one step closer to figuring out what does.
This experience has been tremendously difficult at times, but I've come to accept that God has chosen this for me specifically for a great purpose. Without faith in Him and people like you to help me work through my struggles and shed light in my darkest moments. Learning how to live and adjust to life as a quadriplegic hasn't been a "walk in the park" as they say... :p but has taught me so much about who I am and who I would like to be. Things I used to take for granted, like putting my hair up in a bun and tying my own shoes have become monumental tasks that each day I work on accomplishing.
I know that I wouldn't be in the position I'm in today without the love, support, donations, and encouragement from friends, family, and even strangers early on in my injury.
When I meet people and they ask about my story and tell me how inspiring I am, I try to explain that I would never be this happy and upbeat if it weren't for those who have been there for me through thick and thin, happy or sad, healthy or sick, and able or not since this all started 3 years ago.
To all my therapists-new and old-I don't know how you did it, but THANK YOU for putting up with me!!
To all my friends from childhood on: thank you so much for holding on tight to the close bonds and memories we've shared all our lives and reminding me that our lives and appearances change day by day, but our hearts still love the same as they always have.
To my young adult friends, I couldn't ask for a better crew not only to wake up in the hospital to, but to keep me enthusiastic about living life just as I did before! Accommodations are good but all things are do-able when you've got good friends to watch out for you!!
To friends new and old, near or far, THANK YOU for accepting my life changing injury and seeing it as an opportunity to pull together, see things from a new perspective and ultimately make the best out of a most unimaginably complicated situation!
Whether you were an actual nurse taking excellent care of me (and my many visitors) or friends taking shifts keeping me company in the hospital, making food and delivering it to us when we first got home, making midnight trips to the pharmacy, driving me to and from appointments and therapy, or helping us out with medical supplies which we wouldn't have been able to afford without insurance, and even delivering them to our door!
THANK YOU Facebook friends and family for spreading the word to your friends and families and even complete stranger's friends and families that I was in desperate need of their love, prayers, and inspiration if I was to make it out alive and stronger than ever!
Through all the struggles, and painful realizations of what my new life may look like, I know one thing for sure: that thing that happened in April 2011, what we used to refer to as "the accident" was no accident at all. Rather, a life changing experience that I have been blessed to have received! As I'm writing this to all of you, I realize now more than ever that strangers have become friends, friends have become family, and my family is bigger, better, and more special to me than I could have ever imagined!
8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
- Phil 4:8-9
I m so grateful for you all and not a single second goes by that I'm not reminded of just how lucky I am to be here!!
THANKS for everything!!
️Love,
Kell

WE NEED YOUR Help!
Kellie is one of the most loving, kind, optimistic, outgoing & energetic lovers of life there is. On April 11, 2011 she was involved in a rollover accident on I-35. Her right ankle, both femurs & neck were all broken. The neck fracture caused damage to her spinal cord at level C5/C6. Spinal Cord Injuries are a very unique type of injury which require specialized care for maximum recovery. Due to her lack of insurance, Kellie is in major need of some financial support! Spinal Cord Injury treatment, rehabilitation therapy & other lifestyle modification costs are immense. Kellie's injury carries with it an extremely burdensome financial debt that by no means is one she can take on alone. We are very thankful that Kellie made it through the accident alive, & feel so very blessed & grateful that there was no harm done to her brain! Thank God, she is still the same quirky, quick-witted, lively comedian we all know and love. :)
Now, Kellie needs to focus on healing & recovery! The last thing she needs to worry about is how she will be able to afford to do so. She deserves the specialized treatment and therapy that her spinal cord injury requires! PLEASE, Help to make this happen! EVERY little bit counts!
We ask that you please, take a moment to say a prayer for Kellie & think about how/if you can make a difference in her life today. This might be asking a lot to some people, but please...try to place yourself in her situation... as impossible as that might be. What is it that you would hope others might do for you?
Every $1, every prayer, every letter, every flower, every card, every word of encouragement... each means more than you could know, & not one goes unnoticed or unappreciated.
THANK YOU for all of the love & support you are showing Kellie. She is forever grateful to every one of you & is keeping a list of "thank you's" she can not wait to say. :)
